New Cars and Old Cars
Cars have changed in many ways since cars were introduced to the world. Car manufacturers have made many advancements from safety to the looks of the cars. My first car and my dad’s first car were completely different. My dad had a 1965 Ford Mustang and I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Eclipse. There is a 37 year difference between his car and mine, and his didn’t have all the luxuries mine had like power steering, or power windows, CD player, or an air conditioner. His car was tougher than mine, and it had more horsepower which means it might have been better in a crash and probably went faster. My car probably has more things you can add to the body and engine like body kits, or air intakes especially since Ford might not make parts for that model Mustang anymore.
When cars were first made, I’m pretty sure that they didn’t have near as many safety features as the new cars today. When the first Ford Model-T came out, it probably didn’t have seat belts, air bags, or any of the safety features that protect us today. In this generation, you can find a car that is built just for safety. Some cars now have air bags that come out from all sides to protect passengers and they also have cars where when someone gets in a wreck it automatically calls the police. You can have other modifications that keep you safe put in your car like alarms or even bullet-proof glass, so you can tell safety has became an important issue over the years.
Ways you can change your car’s appearance have become big over the years too. When cars first came out, people weren’t worried about how their cars looked or what you could put on it to make it look better. Just how there are cars that are made just for safety, there are cars that are made just to look good. They make all kinds of things drivers can add to their cars like body kits, spoilers, different lights, different mirrors, and different looking rims or bigger rims. People can paint their car, their rims, or tint their windows different colors. There are all kinds of things you can do to your car now, so it’s evident that looks have become more vital to people.
Lastly, cars have succeeded over the years by the advancements in speed. Cars like the Model-T probably didn’t go faster than fifty miles per hour, if that fast. Now some cars today are able to go 200miles per hour or faster like the Lamborghini Murcielago which has a top speed of 224miles per hour. There are cars that are built just to go fast. For almost every different type of car there are different things you can do to the engine to make the car go faster. There are air intakes, cold air intakes, exhaust systems, turbo, supercharger, Nitrous oxide, and chips which make it go faster or increase the acceleration. Car companies even compete to see who can create the fastest car, so speed is another thing that has changed over the years. Car manufacturers are thinking of new ways to make their cars more safe, better looking, and faster every day. I only talked about those three types of cars. There are all kinds of cars for example, you have luxury cars, electric cars, and fuel efficient cars. There is even a whole different category like trucks, bikes, and sedans. Cars have changed so much over the 100years that cars have been around and I’m confident that they will keep changing while we are still on this earth

The Rationalists
The Puritans and Rationalists were almost completely different. The Puritans believed that God controlled everything and decided everything. The Rationalists believed that there was a God but we shouldn't live in fear of him. The Rationalists believed in natural law which was that people could improve their lives through science. Puritans believed you couldn't improve your life. Rationalists believed that through science we could find most of the answers to the universe. Puritans believed that only God has the answers and it would be an insult for us to try and understand the world.
I think a good illustration of Puritan thought would be how many Christians and other religions believe that what is going on in the world today is prophecies being full filled and that the end times are coming soon. This would also be a good illustration of Rationalists thought because scientist believe that what is going on today is just due to the Earths position and pollution putting holes in our atmosphere or that its all science related.

A good example that Benjamin Franklin is a rationalists is his list of 13 virtues to achieve moral perfection. This is a good example because if he was a puritan he wouldn't believe that he could achieve moral perfection without praying to God for moral perfection but Franklin believed he could do it in a logical manner.

Puritans' beliefs
The Puritans mainly believed in four things Total Depravity, Unconditional Election, Limited Atonement, and Perseverance of the "saints". Total Depravity is the concept of original sin or since Adam an Eve's sins we are all born with sin. Unconditional Election is the belief that god selects who he wants for salvation. Limited Atonement is the belief that Jesus didn't die for everyone just the chosen and that you couldn't earn Gods grace it was freely given. Perseverance of the "saints" is the belief that only those chosen by God could interpret the word of God.
The Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God video made me think the way these people lived are stupid because they believed that everyone was born with sin so then everyone is going to hell. In the video it said that everyone was born with sin so everyone is going to hell. That would mean they most likely lived in fear all their lives which is no way anyone should live. The video also said that no one could earn gods grace. I thought it also was stupid that they thought you couldn't earn Gods grace. Everyone should be able to earn Gods grace if they choose to. I think these people just believed the first thing that they were introduced to because they lived in fear of God for their entire lives. William Bradford's Of Plymouth Plantation made me think that that way these people lived were smarter because they were able to befriend the Indians and form a treaty with them. It was also evident that they were smart because they made the treaty so that it would mainly help them. For example that neither he nor any of his should injure or do hurt to any of their people. It doesn't say that their people cant hurt the indians. It also made me think the way these people lived were old fashion or harder than the way we live today. During thier Thanksgiving they had to fish for cod an bass an hunt for wildturkey and grow their own crops when now we just go to the store an buy the things for Thanksgiving.
